In this large rural state, it is difficult to get providers to the smaller, more remote communities on a consistent basis. As a result, families find that there are few or no services for their child where they live. Unfortunately, transportation is poor to the state's larger communities, where there are more health providers. Families also feel that they fall between the cracks because of fragmented and disjointed systems of care. Fortunately, families and child advocates are coming together to discuss ways to improve health services for all children, including kids with special health care needs.
